Inside pop’s history is an archetype once lauded as the alternative to the “alternative”. Sharing punk’s affinity for the amateur, yet with jangly guitars and Beatles-esque harmonies, lacking its aggression. But, by defying the conventions of both of its contemporaries, it found itself a place in the heart of the everyman, embracing the quirks and normalities of not the delinquent nor the esteemed, but a more mawkish type of misfit. I am talking about…indie pop music!!!! Pop Loser revisits the bygone gems which make up the genre’s foundation, with a notable bias towards the host’s used CD bin.
INFLUENCES
Twee pop, power pop, jangle pop, butterfly rock, c86, Dunedin sound, and bands whose online fanbase consists of an abandoned Geocities site from 2002.
